Tired of pilling under your makeup, and persistent redness and spots on your face? But have you really identified your skin type? There are 8 billion people on this Earth, and yet we are all different. The same goes for your skin: each one is different and requires tailored treatment. A treatment that suits you.
As you will have understood, your beauty routine must be appropriate. Every skin changes, whether over time, due to environmental factors such as pollution, or due to stress, your hormones (especially during the menstrual cycle in women) or your consumption (tobacco, alcohol, ...) and diet (sugar, dairy products, ...).
A product used incorrectly can leave many marks on your face: redness, blemishes, enlarged pores, and even burns in extreme cases.
To avoid this, we will teach you how to distinguish different skin types and build a routine that suits you. What are the different skin types? In total, there are 4 main skin types. As mentioned earlier, this can vary depending on several factors, so it is very important that you regularly observe your skin.
-
DRY SKIN:
Dry skin appears rough and scaly. It is not very elastic, feels tight, itchy, and can be painful. Furthermore, the complexion is often dull and grayish.
This can be explained by a lack of hydration and lipids.
Dry skin is very often sensitive skin. This means that it reacts more or less intensely to different external factors when it feels attacked. In fact, your protective barrier located in the epidermis no longer fully performs its role and becomes permeable.
What can these factors be? Wind, sun, temperature, certain diseases or hereditary factors...
HOW TO CARE FOR DRY SKIN?
If you have dry skin, use a gentle, non-aggressive cleanser. Opt for a repairing and nourishing cream. The lipid-replenishing active ingredients in this product will strengthen your skin barrier.
Use a serum to enhance the action of your cream. And nothing beats a serum containing hyaluronic acid when your skin lacks hydration. This active ingredient can retain up to 1000 times its weight in water; it's a real sponge!
Remember to hydrate well, and for that, nothing beats water. And yes, don't forget your daily 1.5L of water, always in a reusable bottle, of course. 😉
Protect your skin from external aggressions: against the sun, don't forget your sunscreen!
-
NORMAL SKIN:
Everyone would dream of having normal skin: a smooth and even complexion, tightened pores, flawless elasticity, no spots, redness, or tightness after cleansing... a dream!
HOW TO CARE FOR NORMAL SKIN?
If your skin has all these characteristics, you have probably managed to tame it! Nevertheless, you must continue to take care of it to maintain this appearance for as long as possible. Make sure to follow the steps of a skincare routine correctly, and why not complete it? If so, I invite you to read our article on the steps of a perfect skincare routine.
Also remember to exfoliate regularly, once a week, no more! Otherwise, it could irritate your skin. To defend itself, it may produce excess sebum.

OILY SKIN:
Oily skin has enlarged pores and an irregular skin texture. This can lead to imperfections, also called comedones. Indeed, the fact that your skin secretes too much sebum leads to the production of an oily film that remains on the surface of your epidermis. This clogs your pores and causes blackheads, pimples, or acne.
Hyperseborrhea, which is the second name given to this problem, can appear due to several factors. Indeed, the high production of sebaceous glands can be due to a lack of hydration, an external imbalance (diet, hormones, etc.) or internal (pollution, stress, etc.).
HOW TO CARE FOR OILY SKIN?
For oily skin, cleansing is a step not to be missed. Indeed, it deeply cleanses and unclogs pores. Prioritize double cleansing.
A moisturizing cream that is not too rich is also very important. If the cause of your oily skin is a lack of hydration: skipping this step would be a fatal error!
Perform masks and scrubs once a week. Scrubs help eliminate dead cells to allow the skincare products you apply to penetrate more easily. As for masks, you can use a purifying mask that will help regulate sebum production and limit the appearance of imperfections.
-
COMBINATION SKIN:
“Mixte” comes from the Latin “mixtus” which means “to mix”, “to blend”, so you will have understood that combination skin brings together several skin types. Generally, it has 2 distinct types: normal to dry skin and oily skin. Indeed, the T-zone of your face, passing through the forehead, nose and chin, is often oily. It will therefore have the same characteristics as defined above. As for the rest of the face, it will be normal to dry.
HOW TO CARE FOR COMBINATION SKIN?
Combination skin will need special attention to identify the areas and their treatments. That's why you should incorporate a mild and delicate cleanser, so sensitive areas will not be irritated, but excess sebum will be regulated.
Regarding your moisturizing cream, do not opt for too rich a composition. A mattifying day cream can perfectly suit your needs.
Do you want to apply a mask but can't find one that addresses all the skin problems you face?
Then don't hesitate: try multi-masking. This method involves using several masks simultaneously, at least 2. Opt for a mask for oily-prone skin in the T-zone and another dedicated to your second skin type on the rest of your face.
I CAN'T RECOGNIZE MY SKIN TYPE, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Don't panic! We have several solutions for you!
1. Take an online skin diagnostic test: try the one from Endro Cosmétiques. How does it work? Answer a few questions so we can define your skin type. Then, we will suggest a routine with products that suit you. You'll thank us! 😉
2. Consult a dermatologist. As a skin expert, the dermatologist will easily recognize your skin type and its needs.
3. A homemade test: the blotting paper test! Cleanse your skin, dry it, and wait at least 30 minutes for your sebaceous glands to resume normal production. Then, gently place a piece of tissue paper on your T-zone, and a second one on your cheeks. If your paper shows spots, then you have oily skin. If your paper shows few traces, you have normal skin. If your paper shows no spots, then you have dry skin.
And there you have it, you are now a professional expert in skin types!
